Superb Amazing Fact “Do Snake Plant Enjoy Humidity?” (5 Tips for Improving Humidity) #2 (2021)

What Kind of Soil Should You Use?

Snake plant enjoy humidity so much. Since your snake plant can use little water through transpiration…

….in high humidity conditions, it does not need much water.

The soil needs to drain well in high humidity for snake plant growth. However, if you have had your plant…

…in your home for some time and are not sure what to do, I can certainly help!

Snake plants thrive in drainage-rich soil. Do you have a hands-on approach in your gardening and plants?

It is always possible to make your own soil instead of buying readymade soil or looking for it in your area.

Mix the following: two parts sand, one part garden soil, and one part peat to make snake plant soil.

It is for drainage that this soil contains 50% sand. Before here we have story from Kevin…

…about his experience about good humidity for snake plant.

Let us hear Kevin’s story

I, for one, had always loved the snake plant. It was a plant that took care of itself…

….and it wasn’t too needy like some other plants out there.

They were unassuming but powerful plants to have around your home or office.

Plus they were so easy to take care of! Well they used to be easy before this new humidity problem came up in Florida

last year and ruined everything for all my houseplants downstairs. After that I do some research that about it.

There are many ways to care for a snake plant, but one of the most compelling methods is by ensuring the right humidity level.

One way to do this is by placing a humidifier nearby. Another way could be with the use of an organic misting bottle…

.,..or spraying water on it twice daily with room temperature water.

One last idea would be to place it in a location near something that will hold moisture…

and not dry out too quickly such as under another piece of furniture or next to your kitchen sink.

The typical home has low humidity, yet many houseplants prefer a more humid environment. Some favorite houseplants come from tropical or subtropical regions where they flourish in the loamy, humid underbrush of a larger forest. These origins mean that these types of plants are poorly acclimated to growing in a typical home.

Use a Fan

Ceiling fans as well as floor models can be used for this purpose.

The circulation of the air around the room will be helped by a fan.

You don’t need to aim it directly at the plant, but close enough so the air isn’t stagnant.

How to Improve Humidity Levels

If you’ve discovered your home has low humidity levels, that doesn’t mean you can’t keep plants!

You will therefore need to improve the levels of humidity in your home so that plants will be able to thrive.

Here are some suggestions for accomplishing this.

Grouping Plants Together, Snake Plant Enjoy Humidity

When you need to increase humidity in your home, you can make this easy with this super simple trick.

During transpiration, you can group several big leafy plants together so that they will be able to transpire more water.

Leaves are responsible for releasing water. Whenever all the plants in a group are close together…

…the area becomes very humid because the plants are all experiencing transpiration.

Plants Should Be Placed on Gravel trays.

With a gravel tray, excess water can be prevented from being trapped within the pot and humidity can be increased.

The only real difference between a gravel tray and a raised bed is the amount of gravel.

Often, when there is something extra in the pot, the gravel tray layer can help drain the water instead of trapping it.

In addition to increased humidity, the gravel and water will also enhance plant growth and survival.

Humidifiers

When you are in need of higher humidity levels anywhere in the home, but do not want to try things like gravel trays…

…you can simply purchase and use a humidifier.

This is an efficient and quick method of raising humidity levels in your home.

Build a Greenhouse Indoors

Investing in an indoor greenhouse is definitely a great idea if you are looking for a healthy…

…hygienic environment for all your plants. In some cases, however, this can be quite a pricey option based…

…on how large the greenhouse will be, whether permits are required where you live…

…and whether you’re using a prefabricated greenhouse or building one from scratch.

The humidity levels in greenhouses are generally between 50 – 70%, but some greenhouses have humidity levels…

…more in the 60 – 80% range, which is still acceptable range for plants to be grown in.

Last but not least…

Plants Need Misting

Misting your plants is another method you can use to increase humidity.

The best way to raise your plants’ humidity level is to mist them.

It is possible for the plant to raise its humidity level when there is an emergency.

You shouldn’t mist plants very often because it encourages the growth of fungal spores.
