Snake plants can be propagated easily using this method. To propagate this snake plant, you will need a sharp knife or scissors, water, and a jar, vase or heavy glass. In addition, rooting hormone can be prepared if you wish.
In water, how can snake plants be propagated? The steps below can be followed.
- The first step is to cut the leaf that you want to propagate using a sharp knife or scissors that you have prepared in advance. You should cut the part of the leaf that is closest to the soil.
- Dip the leaf that you have cut into root hormone if you have prepared it. You can skip this step if you do not prepare root hormone.
- The next step is to put the bottom part of the leaf in water. Water should cover about 25% of the leaf.
- If your snake plant leaves are large, you can cut them into sections and then put each section into water.
- As when you planted snake plants in soil, you also need to keep the leaf in the same orientation when you planted snake plants in water. Since the leaves of snake plants are polar, they grow roots only if the edge nearest the soil is submerged in water.
