Snow blowers are small, engine-powered tools that cut snow and ice from driveways, sidewalks, roofs, walkways and patios. They are usually used to clear driveways and sidewalks of snow and ice, but they can also be used to clear leaves and grass clippings from a roof.

The most basic types of snow blowers have one or more rotating blades mounted inside the intake chute for cutting loose snow and ice from the ground surface, and then blowing them out through the discharge opening in the side of the unit. The blades may be powered by an electric motor or an internal combustion engine (such as a gasoline or diesel engine). Some models use a pusher plate instead of a blade to push snow into the path of the rotating blade(s) within the discharge opening.

A snow blower’s performance depends on how well it cuts and throws snow. How well it clears the area being cleared of snow depends on its ability to throw snow across large areas, especially over short distances.

Snow blowers are a smart choice for removing snow from pathways, front walks, and driveways. They are a good tool to own if you live in a region subject to heavy snowfall.”

Before doing snow blower maintenance, cleaning, repairs, or inspection, remove all control levers, turn off the engine, and wait for all moving components to come to a full stop.
