How to sharpen pruners with a file? A good pair of pruners are one of the best tools for gardeners. Sharpening your pruners is an easy and inexpensive way to maintain the quality of your tools and extend the life of your pruners.

So how to sharpen pruners with a file? Read this article until end to know more about it. In this blog, we also have an article about best pruners on amazon 2022 that you might want to read about it.

Pruners are a gardener’s best friend, but they can get dull after a while. It’s easy to get a file and sharpen your pruners with a few quick strokes. Here are some steps to do it:

The First Step Is To Prepare The Area

When honing or filing metal, a mess is inevitable. Metal particles as small as dust are created and may be dangerous if eaten. Therefore, ensure that the area where you’re sharpening is completely free of dishes, food, and beverages. You may use a mat or waste bag on the ground if you choose, but it is very simple to clean up the area afterwards, so it is not entirely required.

The Second Step Is To Clean The Blades

As previously said, you must have good and clean blades before beginning to sharpen them with the file. A blade sharpener or metal file has fine lines and grooves that facilitate the task.

When you attempt to sharpen a sap-covered surface, you clog the grooves and make the tool more difficult to use.
You may use a basic sap remover, which can be purchased online or at any hardware shop, or you can do what I did and break out the nail polish remover, which I’m sure everyone has if there is a female in the home.

Soak a cotton ball or an old cloth in the nail sap remover and then massage liberally over the blade’s surface in the gummed-up places. You’ll see that it begins to fade away and a clean blade emerges.

The Third Step Is To Sharpen The Angle

Thus, there is a proper and incorrect manner to sharpen each blade. If you look carefully, you’ll see that it’s angled, which helps keep it sharp. Never move in the other direction and never sharpen the very edge.
Rather doing that, keep the shears open to provide access to as much of the blade as feasible.

Then, align the file or blade sharpener’s edge with the angle. Drag the file over the angle and away from your body in one continuous and simple motion.
Continue in this manner until you reach the top of the blade.

Fourth Step: Arrange The Back

After you’ve filed the “front,” it’s time to deal with the “back.” This eliminates jagged edges and leaves your shears smooth and sleek. Turn the shears over and drag the file along the backside of the angle using the file or blade sharpener.

It may take many attempts, but repeat the procedure several times and then softly verify the smoothness with your finger. To the touch, it should be smooth, not jagged or scratchy.

Why You Should Sharpen Your Pruner

The pruner is an often overlooked tool that can make all the difference when it comes to gardening. The blades are dull and will not cut through the plant. It is a good idea to sharpen the blades every once in a while to keep them in good condition. Here are the reasons why you should sharpen your pruner:

Better Cut Through Sticky Plants

If the plants get stuck in the garden, you don’t want to pull them out because they will damage the plant. Instead, you can just trim the branches around and remove the thorny stem.

Faster Cutting Process

Sharp blades are easier to control than blunt ones. So if you are having trouble cutting, try sharpening your blades beforehand.

Less Scratching

A pruner is usually used by people who suffer from arthritis and rheumatism. Sharp pruning tools won’t cause unnecessary pain.

I love gardening because it is a wonderful way to feel grounded, calm and connected to the earth. There are many things about gardening that I enjoy; picking flowers in the summer, planting vegetables in the fall, and harvesting produce in the winter. I also love how beautiful my garden is, watching plants grow into tall trees or being able to see all of my hard work unfold every year🎕🎕.
Its really help me to killing time and its also relaxing.
