Do Mini Sansevierias exist? Around 70 different flowering plant species can be found in the Sansevieria genus. Furthermore, these species exist in a wide range of sizes and shapes.Some Sansevierias can grow to be as tall as a human, up to 7 feet tall, while others only reach a maximum height of a foot. It’s Not A Bad Idea!
When cultivated inside, mini sansevierias make excellent aesthetic plants. Because of their modest size, these plants can be grown in small pots, dish gardens, or as tabletop decorations. They’ll look fantastic in window sills or on wall shelves alongside other little succulents. Let’s break one by one.
Sansevieria Trifasciata Hahnii
Sansevieria Hahnii is one of the most popular mini sansevierias cultivars. Bird’s nest snake plant and dwarf mother in law’s tongue are two additional frequent names for this lovely plant. It’s a stemless variety of a popular snake plant (Sansevieria Trifasciata). The bird’s nest plant is a small cultivar that rarely reaches more than a foot (30 cm) tall. If you cultivate these plants outside, though, their underground branches tend to spread quickly.
Sansevieria Trifasciata Golden Hahnii
The plant grows in tight rosettes with flat green leaves with horizontal light green mottled bands. This plant can have a variety of leaf designs depending on the type. All Hahnii cultivars, however, have spirally arranged leaves in a vase-like rosette pattern. Silver Hahnii, which has a unique silvery green leaf, and Golden Hahnii, a variegated kind with gorgeous yellow stripes, are two popular types. Sansevieria Hahnii is a floral plant that rarely blooms. It can produce white tubular flowers with a lovely aroma when this happens.
Sansevieria Cylindrica Patula Boncel
Sansevieria Starfish or Sansevieria Boncel are two frequent names for this type of cylindrical snake plant (Sansevieria Cylindrica). This plant’s stubby, mini sansevierias, and thick leaves provide for excellent architectural décor. This plant makes an excellent interior attractive plant. Boncel cultivar is a small Sansevieria Patula hybrid with leaves that are 6 to 7 feet long. The starfish snake plant, on the other hand, barely reaches a height of one foot. Boncel cultivar, like its parent species Sansevieria Cylindrica, has stiff and meaty tubular leaves. Each leaf features a horizontal zigzag pattern in pale greenish grey and dark green stripes running the length of it. The leaves develop in an alternating pattern from the base.
Sansevieria Parva
Parva Sansevieria Sansevieria Parva is a good choice if you want a compact plant with a fragrant flower. Sansevieria Dooneri is another name for the species. This plant, sometimes known as Kenya Hyacinth, produces beautifully fragrant blossoms that have a hyacinth scent at night. Unlike other snake plants, this species can bloom on a regular basis. Sansevieria Parva can reach a height of 1 to 1.5 feet and this is one of mini sansevierias. Flat, slender leaves bend slightly to form a fountain-shaped foliage on this plant. Although younger leaves have pale green horizontal bands, as the leaves mature, the pattern fades.
Sansevieria Ballyi
Kenyans are the natives of this little succulent herb. The patterned cylindrical leaves of this intriguing stemless plant are just 6 to 12 cm (up to 5 inches) long. It develops spider-like stolons that grow to about 6 inches, just like the walking sansevieria plant (15 cm) that’s why we put in the mini sansevierias lists! This already little snake plant type has a smaller cultivar known as “Minnie.” The Minnie variety has even shorter, stubby leaves and only grows 2 inches wide before stolons appear. This plant takes a long time to spread. It can, however, be propagated by detaching the plantlets that sprout at the end of each stolon and planting them in soil.
