One day I found a good eye catching and not in a good shape, lying over on the side of the garden border.

“It’s a snake plant, I think,” Jane said. “And it looks like he’s done some damage.”

Well it’s really in bad shape, we don’t think that reviving snake plant can be the option for this little guy.

She pointed at the leaves that were drooping and turning browner than usual.

My friend still had dirt on her nails from gardening earlier in the day, so I knew this wasn’t an easy fix for her either.

We have zero knowledge for reviving snake plant.

I nodded in agreement as we both inspected the pot from all angles.

It was questionable whether or not to even attempt to revive this little guy;

He seemed pretty much done for but there was always hope for miracles.

The two of us agreed with one another that maybe if we moved him into direct sunlight, he might make a comeback.

Put some soil and good fertilizer maybe can bring back the percentage of this plant going back to life.

But in the other case, it might be die miserably within days instead.

This is our first time reviving snake plant, so we don’t have high expectation about this

Well the miracles happen, in a week this little guy come back to life!

I and Jane never thought this plant can brought back to life again, comparing in the first time we see it.

Its really in a bad shape, but well now. He’s ready for facing a new world in front of it.

Unfortunately, snake plants are also susceptible to problems that can leave you scratching your head in wonder…

…wondering why your snake plant is dying and what you can do about it.

Reviving snake plant is only the way. A snake plant? Really?

Why is it dying? Root rot, exposure to extreme temperatures, insect infestations…

…and fungal problems are the most common reasons a snake plant dies.

Most snake plant issues can be identified and resolved easily, and are fairly straightforward to address.

Lets breakdown all of the things that can help for reviving snake plant and cause of your snake plant dying :

Here’s the things…

During the winter months, Snake Plants are susceptible to root rot, most commonly caused by overwatering.

The roots then die back due to lack of oxygen or overgrowth of a soil fungus.

Muddy soils encourage the growth and multiplication of Pythium, Phytophthora…

…Rhizoctonia, or Fusarium fungi that attack roots and infect plants.

A healthy root becomes brown and mushy as it begins to perish, unable to take in nutrients needed for growth.

Oftentimes root rot goes undetected because it occurs beneath the soil surface and out of sight.

A rotten rootstock in a pot without drainage holes will kill a whole plant within ten days in extreme cases.

Even though snake plants will struggle to survive in pots without drainage holes…

…there are several solutions to this problem that you might not immediately think of.

Bad drainage is bad for your plant. So this thing needs to be aware much.

A well-draining pot can make or break your snake plant’s appearance…

…and you still want it to add a touch of beauty to your home.

I recommend setting the snake plant on a drip tray or inside a more decorative planter rather than in a decorative pot.

Well it’s pretty hard to do for reviving snake plant, but believe me, it worth it!

Snake plant leaves curl inwards with the leaves potentially splitting or appearing wrinkled.

The causes of  underwatering, soil that has become hydrophobic or cold damage.

When snake plant leaves are curling inward, this usually indicates the plant is severely under watered.

Also, damage due to cold may cause the leaves to curdle inward.

Snake plants store water in their leaves, so when they are suffering drought stress they consume the stored moisture…

….causing the leaves to curl inwards.

Under-watered leaves may also sometimes look wrinkled or even split at some point on the leaf.

Many people understand the adage ‘snake plants don’t need much water…

…to mean that they ought to water the plant with a small amount of water and avoid watering too frequently.

Even though snake plants are drought resistant and can survive two or three weeks without water…

…they do require a generous soak at each watering, which is then stored in the leaves to withstand a drought.

Other factors that could lead to leaves curling inwards include heavy soil mixes that harden when they dry out.

The dry soil then repels water off the surface so that it runs down the side of the pot and out the drainage holes.

Although this can appear that the snake plant has had an abundance of water…

…the water has not infiltrated the soil properly and the roots cannot pull up moisture…

…which causes drought symptoms such as curled leaves.

Well it’s pretty hard to do for reviving snake plant, but believe me, it worth it!

Put the snake plant in a bowl of water for 10 minutes.

If the ground is obstructing water from the surface, then submerging…

….the root ball for 10 minutes will allow the roots to draw up the needed moisture.

It is always a good idea to water deeply.

If you water too little, the moisture only reaches the top of the soil and doesn’t reach the roots.

A generous amount of water permeates the drainage holes in the base…

…causing excess water to trickle out of the drainage holes. 

Check how much water the plant received by feeling the leaves to see if the plant is healthy.

Replace the soil if it seems dry underneath your snake plant and water is dripping off the surface.

You should plant snake plants in a special succulent and cactus soil that mimics the well-draining…

…porous soils of the snake plants’ native environment.

It is vitally important for succulents and cacti to be planted in succulents and cacti soil…

….which prevents water from drying out too fast.

Watering your snake plant correctly and giving it a soaking in water for ten minutes…

….should help it recover from drought-stressed conditions by the next day.

When the leaves are curled in, they can begin to store water again and restore…

….to a plump full texture instead of having a dying appearance.

Need a lot of patience for reviving snake plant, but it’s worth!

Last but not least…

Once your snake plant has been exposed to temperatures consistently below 50°F (10°C)….

….it will recover from its curled appearance after being placed in a room that is consistently warmer than 50°F (10°C).

But if your snake plant has areas of white that have a mushy feel to them, these leaves will not recover.

A sterile pair of pruners can be used to cut the damaged leaf blades permanently back…

…to the soil to prevent new damage from spreading.
