This question can be answered in a single word: “No!”A plant’s survival and growth depend on photosynthesis (the conversion of light to energy). Plants need varying amounts of light to grow, however. It is therefore important to choose the right plants for your bathroom in order to achieve success. The process can be approached from several different perspectives.

Plants naturally tolerant of low lighting are best for bathroom environments. The low light and high humidity of most bathrooms are ideal for understory plants from rain forests. Some succulents and air plants do well in these conditions as well (bromeliads).

You can also add overhead fluorescent lighting and grow-lights to your bathroom to add light. Rotate your plants between the sunny window of your bathroom and another sunny window outside. When plants die from insufficient light, simply toss and replace them (this is especially cruel and shame on you!) You can purchase silk plants or plastic plants. Additionally, this is a bad option as artificial plants will not provide any air purification benefits, and their manufacture is very harmful to the environment in general.

The best way to take care of live plants is to carefully choose them and provide them with proper light as needed. Fortunately, there is a wide variety of suitable plants. Low light and humidity are ideal conditions for rainforest plants, bromeliads, and epiphytes, as well as some succulents.

The Best Bathroom Plants To Choose

Low lighting, consistently comfortable temperatures and reliable humidity levels can be achieved with a wide variety of plants. To brighten your bathroom decor, here are some of the best low light bathroom plants including succulents like any variety of snake plants which is the hardy best bathroom plants, bromeliads, epiphytes, and tropical plants.

Temperature and Humidity Levels

If you want to remain comfortable in your bathroom, you likely keep the temperature fairly constant. As a general rule, most house plants feel comfortable if you do. In order to keep plants healthy, you may need to alter your habit of keeping your bathroom cold except for when you plan to take a bath or shower. A small heater set at a low temperature (or a smart thermostat programmed to maintain a comfortable temperature in your bathroom) will benefit you and your plants.

There is a considerable variation in humidity levels in the bathroom. While you are taking a shower, you will notice a sudden rise in humidity. Terrarium plants such as tropical plants, bromeliads, and some succulents can benefit greatly from this. Providing extra humidity to your plants may be required in some cases.

What About Using Artificial Light?

I haven’t found any plants that don’t require sunlight. The artificial plant lights in your bathroom can be useful for your houseplants. Lights are affordable and can be beneficial to you and your plants. A full-spectrum bulb costs just a little more than you would pay for a regular bulb in your bathroom. The natural light you experience in your bathroom will be better with full spectrum bulbs. It has been proven that full-spectrum lighting boosts mood and is prescribed to treat Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), a form of winter depression.

The cost of full-spectrum CFL bulbs is quite affordable as well. There are a couple of reasons why you shouldn’t use these bulbs in an overhead socket. They wear out quickly when they’re turned on and off. Secondly, it is best for your plants if you place these bulbs close to them. With these convenient bulbs, you can use any lamp to place them close to your plants to provide bright light directly to the plants and to make a beautiful growing space for your plants in your bathroom.

Managing Your Grow-Light

A full-spectrum overhead light left on for 12 hours a day may be enough for bromeliads and epiphytes. When you have the hardy best bathroom plants that require more light, use an attractive lamp or light fixture near the plant to provide light for that plant.
