Most varieties of Sansevieria have long and pointed green and white bands. In late fall, it blooms in clusters with greenish-white flowers.

Sansevieria Canaliculate

Beautiful succulents like this can be used in outdoor landscaping. At maturity, Sanseveria canaliculate leaves measure up to three feet long and about an inch wide. It grows either one leaf at a time or two leaves at a time. Native to Madagascar, this snake plant blooms in the spring. Tuberous, greenish-white flowers grow from the stems.

Sansevieria Patens

A vibrant green plant like Sansevieria patens will complement any color scheme or decor. This rosette-shaped Sansevieria is native to eastern Africa and has short, cylindrical leaves. A grooved leaf can grow to about three feet in length and two inches in diameter. It typically has dark green and light green bands. It blooms with grayish-white flowers.

The deep green leaves of this variety of Sansevieria have golden edges. When fully grown, the plant reaches 4 feet tall. These sword-shaped leaves grow in a tight clump vertically, like all Sansevieria. This cultivar is rare to flower, but when it does, its leaves are greenish-white at the top of a slender inflorescence.

Sansevieria Cylindrica

Known as the ‘African Spear’, this cylindrical Snake Plant species originated in Angola. Its smooth rounded leaves exceed six feet in height, which makes it larger than many other Sansevieria plants. In order to secure the leaves at the top, braid them while they are still young. In this way, growth can be controlled and the arrangement can be pleasing. If you live in a warm climate, Sansevieria cylindrica would be a great landscaping plant.

Sansevieria Fischeri

As one of the most unique types of Snake Plants, Sansevieria fischeri features uniquely curved leaves. At maturity, Sansevieria fischeri stands less than 16 inches high, a smaller variety of Snake Plant. Although it’s great for container gardening, it can also be successfully grown outdoors. During the summer, the plant produces white tubular flowers as an inflorescence.

Sansevieria Masoniana

Snake Plants such as Sansevieria masoniana, which has broader leaves than many other varieties, are also popular. A native of central Africa, this Snake Plant is sometimes called Whale’s Fin or Shark’s Fin. The leaves are broad and mottled green, and they can reach up to four feet in length.
