Cactus is the first plant that comes to mind as a resilient indoor plant. Cacti come in a wide range of kinds that can be used at home and do not require much maintenance. Most only need to be watered every week or two! The plants should be placed where they will receive most of the day’s sunlight. This is low maintenance at its best! The flowers sprout in a variety of colors, shapes, and sizes.

Areca Palm

Feel like your home needs more of a tropical feel but worry that indoor tropical plants need constant care due to constant irrigation and climate control? We have the perfect plant for you: the Areca Palm.

The size of this pot-based plant ranges from a tabletop plant to a towering 6- to 7-foot tall tree-like addition to your room. The areca palm, no matter what size you choose, gives the Caribbean vacation vibe with its lush, long, thin green leaves.

As it prefers dry soil, this low maintenance plant only requires watering every other week.  Even in indirect sunlight, it thrives. It doesn’t get any easier than that!

Snake Plant

Snake plants (also known as mother-in-law’s tongues!) are fun jungle like plants with leaves that grow from the pot. The upright leaves have yellow and white edges, and it blooms a white flower from time to time, giving it a unique appearance.

A tiger-like pattern is also seen on the leaves of this indoor plant, which creates an interesting contrast with solid colors within a room. Among its many uses, Snake Plants have been found to be useful as room dividers and privacy niches throughout the house.

Tillandsia

Another plant that fits within a tropical theme is the tillandsia. With this unusual plant, you have unlimited display options since it doesn’t require soil.

Water-soluble glue can be used to glue the tillandsia to almost anything. Then hang them on a wall, mount them on a rock, or place them anywhere you like around the house.

Conch shells would be the perfect option for displaying this plant if you have a beach-themed home. There is a wide range of colors available, and the tillandsia has magnificent blooms that last for weeks.

Keeping this plant healthy and adding beauty to your home for years to come is as simple as spraying it once a week with water.

Ficus

Its bright green leaves with a whitish, almost yellow outline make the ficus the ideal indoor tree to liven up a traditional home setting. Braiding the stems is a very common practice, which gives a room a fun new look.

You can even add Christmas lights to the ficus for a warm glow at night.  This low-maintenance plant can survive several days without watering and thrives at room temperature.

Pothos

Among the plants on this list, the pothos requires the least maintenance. You can actually clean your house with it, and it looks great too!

While it won’t mop your floors, it will help purify your air! You may be using formaldehyde or other toxins in your home that are being absorbed by the pothos plant.

In addition to being stylish, this plant promotes a healthy home environment. Pothos thrives in a wide range of light and can go days without water. Do we need to say more?

The plants will accent your décor and add a beautiful touch to your home. In some cases, your air quality will even improve!
